Compare and Contrast
The book of Esther has many issues that can be compared to the issues of the 1940’s during World War II. The antagonist in the book of Esther, Haman, can be compared to the Nazi leader Hitler.
Before WWII began and Hitler had complete control of Germany he had a plan to exterminate all the Jews in Europe. Before concentration camps and ghettos were built he had many shipped to America and other places around the world. Haman also wanted to destroy the Jewish people within the kingdom he lived. He sent out a decree demanding the people within the kingdom to kill all the Jews and plunder their goods. Haman unlike Hitler didn’t have complete control there was still a king above Haman, who found out of the great evil thanks to Ester.
Haman and Hitler both had access to power and both used it for the destruction of an entire race. Even though Haman lived thousands of years before Hitler they both had similar goals. Hitler was unfortunately more successful than Haman in achieving his goals. Both Haman and Hitler died horribly. Hitler shot himself and Haman was hanged on a seventy-five foot gallows.
